About Margaret vandenberg
 

Margaret Vandenberg has worked on Bruny Island for the past 20 years.

After a long career teaching art, she now works in a studio in the bush on the shores of Barnes Bay.

Margaret works in mixed media using drawing, painting, printmaking  techniques and encaustic. Found objects collected from the shores of the island, fish and bird bones and flotsam and jetsam are also often incorporated into works. Exploring nautical themes, vessel forms and weather patterns. Many original artworks are now available as cards and prints.

Recent works include hand-made books and wall sculptures of boat forms made from recycled wood, wire and textiles.

An interest in the natural environment underpins her art-making, particularly the coastal landscape and flora and fauna of beautiful Bruny Island.
